Insurance can be a confusing topic to some people.
That's why we developed our popular "Coverage Case Studies"
- a series of seven real-world examples that demonstrate why a
Foremost mobile home policy is so valuable in the real world today.
The following seven case studies are written from
the customer's perspective. They're an excellent sales tool you
can use whenever you're talking to prospects on the phone or in
person.
Note: The text for each case study is provided
below. If you want a printable black-and-white PDF version, simply

Debris removal
If you suffer an insured
loss that damages or destroys your home, you have two expenses
to be concerned about: expenses to repair or replace your home,
and expenses to clean up the mess and cart away the debris.
When most mobile home owners file a claim, they
think about replacing what they lost - and not the cost of removing
debris. And that can be a costly mistake, unless you have a Foremost
policy. A Foremost mobile home insurance policy automatically
includes additional debris removal coverage.
Example: A fire destroys your new mobile
home. Fortunately, no one is hurt, and your insurance company
pays your $20,000 physical damage limit. But what about the additional
$2,500 bill to clean up and haul away debris?

Foremost pays the reasonable
and necessary costs to remove debris with no deductible. If
you suffer a total loss, we'll pay up to an additional 5%
of your mobile home coverage limit or $2,500, whichever is
greater.
Uh-oh. With some other companies,
your debris removal payment is just $1,000. That's not even
close to your cost!

Mobile home owners usually have thousands of dollars
worth of personal belongings inside their homes. And usually,
these items are covered in the event of a catastrophic loss. But
what about everyday accidents like paint spills? Would your policy
pay for replacements or repair?
Most mobile home policies offer "Named Peril"
coverage for personal belongings. That sounds OK, but there's
a catch the standard policies only pay for damage caused
by the "named perils" listed in the basic policy contract.
If your personal belongings are damaged by an event not named
in your policy, your company won't pay.
When you purchase Foremost personal belongings
coverage, you have protection from just about any direct, sudden
and accidental loss except those few kinds of loss that are excluded
in your policy. It's much more extensive coverage!
Example: While doing some painting in your
home, you take a quick break to answer the phone. During your
call, you hear a crash, and return to find the dog has knocked
over your stepladder and spilled paint on your new furniture and
throw rug. The cost of a new sofa is $1,100, refinishing the end
table will cost $275, and a replacement for your rug will cost
$185. Altogether, the damage adds up to $1,560.

You've probably never thought
about it, but small animals like skunks, squirrels and raccoons
can get inside your home and make a big mess. Would your insurance
company pay for a clean-up?
Wild animals can ransack
your home, damage your belongings, and leave nasty stains and
odors. Many companies exclude these kinds of losses. When you
purchase Foremost insurance, these kinds of losses will be covered.
Example: You return
home late one evening to find an unexpected guest - a foraging
skunk. Your sudden arrival upsets the skunk (phew!), who has damaged
your furniture and strewn trash throughout your home. The cost
to clean and deodorize your home is $750, and the cost to re-cover
your new sofa is $785.

If your power is out for
more than a couple hours, the food stored in your freezer or refrigerator
could spoil. Would your mobile home insurance policy cover you
for food spoilage?
Food is covered under personal
property. If your policy gives you "Named Peril" coverage
on personal property, the cost of replacing your spoiled food
will only be paid if the power loss was caused by a peril named
in your policy and occurs on your premises.
If you have Foremost's personal
property coverage you can relax. If your food spoils because of
any interruption in your electrical service, you're covered.
Example: The power
transformer serving your neighborhood malfunctions, and you lose
power for two full days before your electricity is restored. During
that time, all the food in your refrigerator and freezer is spoiled
and has to be thrown away - $500 worth.

No problem. Your policy insures

Sorry. Many companies only offer
"Named Peril" coverage on personal belongings. And
since a malfunctioning transformer usually isn't a named peril,
you won't be paid for the food you lost.

If you own a golf cart, you
need to know exactly what kind of coverage you have. Property
coverage is insurance on the golf cart itself. Liability insurance
protects you if there is a claim brought against you due to damage
caused by your golf cart.
When you purchase a mobile
home policy from Foremost, you get property and liability coverage
on your golf cart.
Example: You're driving
your golf cart through your mobile home park, on your way to the
golf course for a day of relaxation. Before you get there, however,
you run into a parked car. You cause $800 damage to your golf
cart, and the owner of the car submits a claim for the $250 of
damage you did to her passenger-side door.

if your golf cart is damaged or causes damage anywhere other
than the golf course.
The Foremost settlement shown

details.
If your mobile home is damaged beyond reasonable
repair, how will your insurance company determine the amount of
your settlement? With many companies, you will only be paid the
used retail value of your home. With a mobile home insurance policy
from Foremost, however, your settlement will be the amount for
which your home was insured.
Example: A tornado
severely damages your mobile home. A claims adjuster determines
that your home is damaged beyond reasonable repair, and declares
it totaled. Your home was insured for $35,000. What will your
settlement be?

$35,000 when it was totaled, your settlement is for $35,000

Typically, other companies will award you a settlement
based on the used retail value of your home. That may be
several thousand dollars less than the amount for which
you had it insured. It's hard to know for sure.

Most mobile home policies
offer you named peril coverage on your personal belongings. That
works out just fine if your property damage is caused by one of
the perils listed in your policy, but what about for everything
else? If your personal effects are damaged when they're being
moved, for example, a named peril policy may not cover the resulting
damage.
With a policy from Foremost,
you have protection from any direct, sudden and accidental loss
except for losses that are specifically excluded in your policy.
It's much more extensive coverage!
Example: Your riding
lawnmower needs repairs. You load it into the back of your truck,
and take it to the repair shop. When you're bringing the mower
back home, however, you hit a bump in the road and your mower
bounces over your tailgate and out of the bed of the truck. The
lawnmower, worth $1399, is completely destroyed.
